DYDC conducts Radio for Development Training to research centers in VSU
The VSU Radio DYDC-FM conducted a training workshop on July 27, 2020 on radio broadcasting to the staff of the various research centers in VSU as they set to produce their own development radio programs on DYDC-FM 104.7.
A total of eight participants from the National Abaca Research Center (NARC), National Coconut Research Center (NCRC), Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), and the Philippine Rootcrops Research and Training Center (PhilRootcrops) were trained in planning and producing their radio programs, radio scriptwriting, hosting and interviewing, and operating the radio console.
In her welcome message, DYDC Station Manager Dr. Christina Gabrillo said this is a good opportunity for the research centers to harness the power of radio and the internet to reach out to the farmers and clients especially in this COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from being on air, DYDC-FM can also be seen via Facebook Live on the internet.
At the end of the training, the research centers were able to come up with their respective development radio programs and are set to begin airing in August.
Participant Dioscorro Bolatete, PhilRootcrops Senior Agriculturist, said he is thankful for the opportunity to be trained as this will help them in producing their programs and ultimately reach out to their clients.
Crislin Cruz of NCRC said that with their radio program, they can be able to create awareness on the services offered by the center. (Buen Josef Andrade)
